A few weeks ago, my daughter came up to me and asked if she could make a Thanksgiving card for her grandparents. This, besides delighting me – caught me by surprise. She has always had craft supplies at the ready, and has made some really cute stuff, but never was gaga over it.

It just isn’t her thing, fun to do here and there, but that was all.

So, like all good card makers the first question I asked her was “What do you want it to look like?” After a couple minutes, she decided that she wanted it “pink with a pumpkin spice coffee cup on it”. Ok. Interesting combo, but what the heck. Since she was stumped past that, I recommended her to draw it out, even add a bit of color so she had a visual of what she wanted.

Pretty good, I have to say. Especially for her first mock-up.

I took her thru everything I had, she picked what she wanted to use and got to work. I did help her with cutting a couple things and the bow, but other then that, it’s all hers.

Card measures 4 1/4 inches x 5 1/2 inches.

After she got her card done, I looked at her mock-up a little closer. I asked her if I could use it as a challenge. She thought it was great that card-making mom was using her idea for a challenge.
