I love quick and simple projects. – it’s no secret – But I especially love quick and simple projects that my daughter can enjoy doing also!

That’s an extra bonus – because then we can have a little bit of special time together making something that our entire household can enjoy!!

—————————————–

These paper bag ghost luminarias fit the bill – and these are simple, I think we spent maybe about half an hour on them – if that. And that includes me using punches and an oval die – which you don’t need, you could easily just cut everything out with scissors.

And because of that, it makes it a great project for little ones – they get a little bit of practice with scissors, and then they could have a cute ghost to light up the night – to keep all those goblins away!

Supplies used:

  • White paper bag
  • Black cardstock/construction paper
  • Scissors/punches/dies (*if you want to use punches and dies)
  • Glue/glue stick
  • Battery operated tea light

How to:

I wanted my ghosts to have a bit of wavy heads – kinda like the uncle ghosts from the 1995 movie Casper (annndd I just dated myself!). So, I just drew wavy lines at the top of the bags – starting from the sides, between 1/3 and 1/4 from the top – and made sure they ended in a point. And cut them out with scissors. I wasn’t aiming for perfection – just cute!

Next, I took black paper and used a 1 inch punch to punch out the eyes. I punched 6, then punched them again to make them look like crescent moons. For the front ghost I used a 1 1/2 inch punch and the happy ghost, a 2 inch punch – and punched it again to look like a crescent moon. The oval mouth is made using a 1 3/4 inch die.

Once again – you don’t have to use dies or punches. You could easily trace around a cup and cut it out.

Glue the eyes and mouths on and insert the tea lights.
