Don’t worry, my daughter does too! In fact, her issues with understanding multiplication – and division – actually spurred the creation of these worksheets.

It all started last year, she was moving through math just fine, even enjoyed it. Multiplying one digit vs up to 4 digits – seemed fine. Then we started into multiplying multiple digits – and the world ended, at least it seemed that way. Our lovely, wonderful, stress free homeschool days were replaced by silent stares and quiet tears.

What’s a homeschool mom to do?

(Besides dinking more coffee and reaching for the hidden chocolate stash!)

The good thing about this day and age is that there are endless resources just a click (ok, many clicks) away. Just remember though – you open a search looking for help – you may get a lot more than you hope for. I looked through a bunch of different techniques until I finally found one that seemed too ‘fit’ the bill. The original one I found used colorful shapes which was super cute, but very busy (sorry, I don’t remember where I found it -but it was really cute! –ugh, that’s when you can tell your a homeschool mom when you think a worksheet is cute!!). But I really liked the idea of grouping the digits that went together – so I figured I would make my daughter her own worksheets, with color and no shapes.

How is she doing?

She actually loves using the worksheets. Before she used them, she did 20 problems in a little over an hour and a half – and she wanted me to sit beside her the whole time. The next day, 20 problems again, using the worksheets, 45 minutes. and after about 15 minutes she felt comfortable enough to do by herself.

I will note – I printed these off and slipped them into a top loading page protector. Then when she uses them, she works the problem with a wipe off marker – and when done – wipes it clean.

So how do you get these for free? – CLICK HERE – and you will be directed to the Free Printables page, scroll down to ‘Homeschool”, find the one you want and click ‘download’ under the worksheet you want. Easy right?! I figured something had to be easy!

I hope the worksheets can help if your little one is having issues with multiplication. If so, let me know – I’d love to get feed-back!
