Good morning! Welcome to Morning Chat for October 25, 2022!
Indian Summer, busy days and bumble foot.
Fall in the Bitterroot is my favorite. The last few weeks we have been enjoying a wonderful Indian summer. Warm days, cool nights, morning fog blanketing the river, and the trees slowing changing to their autumn glory.
Fall also tends to be one of the busiest times for our family. Harvesting the garden and subsequently taking it out. Prepping the same area for a winter duck enclosure. Prepping the duck house and run for winter and putting up hoop houses. And lately I have been finishing up projects that I didn’t have time for during the summer, mainly finishing cold frames that I started back in the summer. Fingers crossed that they do well, I am a bit late on planting in them, but I have hope.
Lately, we are also handling a little bumble foot with one of our ducks, Sofia. I noticed a few weeks back that she was walking a bit funny and when checked she had a spot on her foot, that I was hoping with a little extra care would heal, but unfortunately, it didn’t. Eh, it happens. Not what I wanted to deal with, but with a little more care and her having a nice soak in the tub we were able to get the plug out and every day she gets her pretty blue bandage changed out and loved on.
That’s what it is all about, taking care of those we care about.
I hope you have a great day!
